In the up and coming election in Maryland’s 4th Congressional District, there is a democratic candidate unlike his two opponents. The main reason for this difference is that he is a pro-life democrat giving the voters in Maryland’s 4th Congressional District an alternate candidate. This alternate candidate is Dr. Michael Babula. Dr. Michael Babula has declared on his website (http://www.babula2008.com/) that he will work for the continuation of the fight against partial birth abortion. The New England Journal of Medicine’s article: The Partial Death of Abortion Rights, describes partial birth abortion as: “A so-called partial-birth abortion, or D&X, involves dilating the cervix, partially extracting the fetus, puncturing the skull while it remains in the uterus, and removing the brain tissue through suction, thus allowing for easy removal of the otherwise intact fetus through the birth canal. In cases in which the procedure is performed, it is usually done late in the second trimester of pregnancy, though in some cases it is used during the third trimester.” Dr. Babula’s two competitors, Albert Wynn and Donna Edwards, are both pro-choice, so therefore, have not presented the partial birth abortion debates as a concern. However, I do believe it is a concern, a major concern facing our country today. It is a problem that presents a large gray area of moral questioning. It brings to the surface questions such as: whose life is of more value the child’s or the mother’s and who has the right to choose between the two lives? But above all the moral questioning partial birth abortion is, as Dr. Babula states on his website, “the worst human rights tragedy occurring in the United States” and a “violent and vicious end to a child’s life.” According to the New England Journal of Medicine’s article entitled: Abortion, Health and the Law, “Even people in our society who support a woman's right to sovereignty over her own body, in the abstract and at early gestational ages, may become uneasy with the subject of abortion when forced to consider the details of the procedures involved and the clash between maternal rights and the claim of a "right to life" for a fetus of advancing gestational age.” Although the issue of partial birth abortion is a sensitive one, I believe it is wrong no matter the circumstances, especially considering the numerous other options. I do not support abortion in any form or at any gestational age and wish for Dr. Babula to not only fight against partial birth abortion, but also, the killing of unborn babies in all forms. Of course, this presents another largely debated question in the issue of abortion: when is the unborn baby to be considered a human being and be given the same rights as all other humans under the Constitution? I firmly believe that at the moment of conception a baby should receive the same rights as all other Americans, although this belief is not one that is wholly accepted in today’s society. I fully agree with Dr. Babula’s fight for an end to partial birth abortion and I hope that he does not stop there, but works further to bring to an end all abortions in the United States. Works Cited

Alex's blog contains an abundance of sophiscated and intelligent writing styles and vocabulary in order to capture the reader, but more so, the voter. The way Alexandra describes the abortion process gives the voter an excellent idea of what exactly Dr. Babula is determined to bring a halt to. The way in which Alexandra employs quotes from Dr. Babula's website helps support the blog and the topic of which the blog addresses. Overall, Alexandra's blog does an exceptional job in persuading the voters to give their voice to Dr. Babula.
I do not know how this proceedure could be considered anything except a crime against another human being. As I believe every candidate should have the position that partial birth abortion needs to be abolished, I appreciate Dr. Babula choosing a prolife platform not just following party line. Democrats used to be for the one least able to defend himself, why did they abandon that ideal? How can an unborn child not be considered defenseless?
This is disgusting how anyone could perform an abortion. Why be so selfish and have an abortion when there are plenty of women who cannot have a baby and would love to adopt a new born baby. This is a horrible crime that people have found loopholes to commit it without breaking the law. I commend Dr. Babula on taking a stand on this issue and think that more political leaders should stand up for what is right.
Alex's blog focuses on a very controversial and important topic in today's society, especially due to the upcoming presidential election. She is able to take a very debated topic that is often negated in our world. She does so using very clear and simple examples that the American public would find easy to understand.
I am truly impressed by Alex's topic. Partial birth abortion is a non-issue in the upcoming elections, according to many people. Yet it is important. The moral pulse of the common person should be something that politicians have their finger on yet that seems far from the truth in many cases. Most people who chose to face the facts that Alex has presented about abortion will have to agree that it is guesome yet politicians would have it be known as matter for legislation, not as a moral issue and certainly not an issue affecting upcoming elections. Kudos to Alex for bringing this important moral dilemna out into the open once again.
I completely agree with Alex and Dr. Babula's stance on partial birth abortions! I believe that a baby is a human from the moment of conception and that it should be treated with the utmost respect! It pains me to think that there are women in this country who have done this to their baby's! It is great that Dr. Babula is defending the rights of the unborn child and that he decided to go against the norm of the other candidates and stand up for what he believes in! Partial birth abortion is wrong no matter what the case may be!
To take a stand agaist what would be considered the foundation of the Democratic party is Brave and to be commended. This is what all U.S. citizens deserve politicians who are honest to themselves and to the voters. Maybe if this would become the norm our gorvernment could actually work

I agree that this is a very important cause that we stop the action of abortion. It is a very gross thing that people are doing. People think that it is not right to hurt animals but they do not understand that they are killing human life, which is not right at all. I think the loss of one human might be change the world, that person could have helped our world in an amazing amount, and someone is killing that child. I think that is great that Dr. Babula is against abortion. No one needs to die until he/she lives the life he/she has to.
the points made are very good i think more young people need to support the fight agaist abortion it is an issue that most younger people overlook and they think it will not ever hapen to them but it is very real and no body knows what will happen in the future
Right on Alex.

I really agree with Doctor Babula and his stand against partial birth abortion. I fully support his campaign in the upcoming election. Best of luck.
Alex's blog is very well written. She is totally right in that abortions are wrong. She helps readers understand the issue at hand through the eyes of Dr. Babula. It does a wonderful job in using clear, concise examples to show readers the horrors of abortion. Overall, Alex did a great job helping Dr. Babula portray his beliefs.
